What this page covers

MobSlop lets guests at a bar or restaurant send ideas from their phones that play on the TV as short videos. This page says what we collect, why, who helps us run MobSlop, how long we keep things, and how to have them deleted.

If you're a guest

  • A device key. The first time you open MobSlop, your browser makes a random key and keeps it on your phone. It ties your ideas, your locker and your purchases to that phone. It isn't your name.
  • Your handle and your ideas. The name you type and the ideas you send. They show in the spot's queue, where anyone who opens the spot's page can see them, and on the owner's desk. The TV plays the video made from your idea, not your words.
  • Scenes and songs. We make a video or a song from your idea and store it so the TV can play it and your locker can keep it. If you share one, anyone with the link can watch it. For a song, we also keep the words ElevenLabs wrote for it.
  • Your song at the spot. Only when your idea's words show to everyone at the spot can other phones read your song's words. The same rule decides who can save your song and play it from their locker. A song you buy can come back on that spot's radio if 3 other phones heart it. The radio names you by your handle, or "a guest" if you kept the one we made.
  • Votes, hearts and check-ins. Which scenes and songs you vote for, which songs you heart, and when your phone checks in at a spot. We use them to order the queue, pick the radio's next song and count the room. With music votes and hearts we keep a salted hash of your internet address, to stop vote stuffing.
  • Saved songs. When you tap Save on a song, we keep it with your phone's key. If you signed in with Google to keep your locker, we keep it with that account instead. Your locker page lists them, and you can remove one there.
  • Payments. Payments go through Stripe. MobSlop never sees or stores your card number. We keep Stripe's payment ID, the amount and what it bought, so your credits, membership and refunds work.
  • Moving your locker. If you move your locker to another phone by email or text, we keep that email address or phone number with your locker and send you a code. The code expires after 30 minutes.
  • Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google to keep your locker, see Google sign-in below.

If you run a place

You sign in with Google (see below). We keep your place's settings, such as its name, tagline, rules, what plays on the TV and the radio, the TVs and speakers you pair, which songs played there, and what guests bought there.

Google sign-in

When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID with MobSlop. We ask for nothing else: not your Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendar.

We use them only to sign you in, show which account is signed in, and connect you to your locker or your places. We don't use them for ads, we don't sell them, and we share them only with the two services that run MobSlop for us: Supabase (sign-in and database) and Vercel (our servers).

To disconnect MobSlop from your Google account, go to https://myaccount.google.com/connections.

Who helps us run MobSlop

We send each of these services only what its job needs. We don't sell your information.

  • Supabase stores our database and files, and runs Google sign-in.
  • Vercel hosts the website and runs our servers.
  • xAI reads your idea to write the scene, and can make the video. Every page also loads a script from grok.com, xAI's site, that shows the "Created with Grok" badge; your browser runs it on our pages, and xAI sees your IP address when it loads.
  • Fal makes the video from the written scene.
  • Atlas Cloud makes the video instead, only when we aren't using Fal.
  • ElevenLabs makes songs and their words when a spot plays music.
  • Stripe takes payments.
  • Resend sends the email code when you move your locker by email.
  • Twilio sends the text code when you move your locker by text.
  • Google runs Google sign-in, and serves the fonts on our pages, so Google sees your IP address when they load.

Cookies and storage

Sign-in doesn't use cookies on mobslop.com. Google sign-in keeps your session in your browser's local storage, and so do your device key, your handle and the spots you've opened. The music page also remembers which songs you voted for and whether you closed its tips. A music player keeps its own key.

Stripe's payment form may set its own cookies to prevent fraud. We don't use analytics, ad trackers or ad cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Your locker. It keeps your 20 newest clips and songs, plus anything you pin. Older ones leave it after 90 days, and the locker warns you 7 days before. Members keep everything.
  • Locker codes. A code for moving your locker expires after 30 minutes.
  • Music. Your votes, hearts and saved songs, and the list of songs each spot played, have no automatic deletion date. They stay until you ask us to delete them. You can remove a saved song yourself.
  • Everything else. Ideas, scenes, payment records and sign-in details stay until you ask us to delete them. We haven't set automatic deletion dates for these yet. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own privacy policy.

Deleting your information

Email support@mobslop.com. Tell us your handle and the spot, or the Google email you signed in with. We'll delete what we find and tell you when it's done. Some payment records have to stay with Stripe for tax and fraud rules.

Questions about this page go to the same address: support@mobslop.com.

Children

MobSlop isn't meant for children under 13 to use on their own, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
